Hopkins Co. Authorities Seize 100+ Lbs. of Marijuana, Other Drugs in Investigation

A large amount of drugs and guns were seized during the search of several Hopkins County homes on Thursday.

The Madisonville Police Department says that those items were seized by detectives from the Madisonville Police/Hopkins County Vice Narcotics Unit through the investigation of a large-scale drug trafficking operation that began in Hopkins County in late 2018.

On Thursday, detectives executed three search warrants at homes in Earlington, just south of Madisonville.

Through the search of two homes on Sharp Avenue and one home on New Arnold Street, detectives say they seized around 110 lbs of marijuana, two ounces of hallucinogenic mushrooms, an ounce of meth, and a half-ounce of cocaine.

Several miscellaneous controlled substances were also seized during the searches, as were five handguns, according to authorities.

The police department hasn’t named any suspects at this time but says that multiple arrests are expected to follow in the coming days.
